Gabriel Pizza Hockey Afternoon in Cardinal Creek Challenge Event
February 21st, 2009, 1-3 p.m.

The Cardinal Creek CA (CCCA), volunteers, sponsors, politicians and kids have challenged the Chapel Hill South CA (CHSCA) to a fun pick up game of hockey. We will try to see if we can set a Guinness Book Record for the most number of consecutive hockey games at one time in one city! This gives us an opportunity to celebrate Family Day!

The main idea behind this hockey game is to recognize the City of Ottawa's Outdoor Ice Rink Program and to demonstrate the tremendous benefits of a small community outdoor ice rink.

Cardinal Creek residents are all invited to participate! This will be a great family and community event with:
  • 25 large free Gabriel pizzas
  • 100 free Gourmet Burgers and 100 free 1/4 chickens from The Works/The Roost
  • Free Tim Horton's hot chocolate, coffee and timbits
  • 100 free Booster Juice drinks
  • 300 free hot dogs and drinks, courtesy of M&M Meat Shops and Sobeys
  • Cheese Curds, courtesy of Cheddar Et Cetera

This event features the following:

  • Live entertainment including Boule le Clown
  • Local recording artist Brant Pethick
  • A great hockey game starring the CCCA and CHSCA volunteers, directors, business sponsors and elected officials!
  • Sliding hill and play structure for kids
  • Saint John Ambulance

Raffle tickets are being sold throughout the community and are available at Gabriel Pizza, The Works and Lapointe's Sea Food. The prizes are:

  • Prize #1- Ottawa 67s Box - $700 value
  • Prize #2 - Autographed Ottawa 67s game jersey
  • Prize #3 - Gabriel Pizza Trim Rd - $100 voucher
  • Prize #4 - Lapointe's Seafood Grill - $50 voucher
  • Prize #5 - The Works/The Roost - two $35 vouchers

This raffle will raise money for Orleans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre (OCCRC) / Centre de ressources communautaires Orléans-Cumberland a worthy local charity, and the CCCA. The profits from the raffle will be split 50/50 between these organizations.

The participants at this event include Councilors Bob Monette, Rob Jellett, and Rainer Bloess, MPs Pierre Lemieux and Royal Galipeau, MPPs Jean-Marc Lalonde and Phil McNeely, and Mayor Larry O'Brien have all agreed to participate in this fun community event!
