**** Cardinal Creek Community Association Public Meeting ****

When: November 6, 2008, 7pm - 9pm
Where: South Fallingbrook Community Center, 998 Valin Street
        (adjacent to Maple Ridge Elementary school)

Hello Cardinal Creek Homeowners,

Are you interested in finding out how your community association is
protecting your community and your homes? By attending the Cardinal Creek
Community Association's Thursday November 6th "Planning and Environment
meeting" from 7 to 9 pm at the South Fallingbrook Community Centre
(attached to Maple Ridge Elementary School),  998 Valin Street you can
learn more and get involved.

Did you know that the City of Ottawa (CO) is currently conducting a
study to expand the urban boundaries of the City? Find out where your
new neighbours will be living and what type of land uses (commercial,
industrial, residential) may be coming our way.

Are you aware that the CO's Greater Cardinal Creek Watershed Study
and the Ministry of Natural Resource's prospective designation of the
Cardinal Creek Karst as an earth sciences Area of Natural Scientific
Interest (ANSI) are all key to protecting our community and setting
the baseline for future development east of Cardinal Creek? Find out
more about the rare species and environmental sensitivities that are
located in your back yard.  

Did you know that the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority's (RVCA) Stream
Watch Program has surveyed the entire length of Cardinal Creek (with CCCA
some volunteers) and identified fish species, animals, birds, beaver and
areas along the creek that require further protection?  Find out how the
environmental health of the creek and abutting areas have changed over
the last 5 years. How can we all help to protect this natural gem?

We look forward to your participation on Thursday night. As an informed
community we will ensure that our interests are protected for years
to come.

Bonjour résidents du secteur Cardinal Creek,

Etes-vous intéressé à savoir comment l'association communautaire protège
votre communauté et vos maisons? Vous êtes invités à l'assemblée
publique de l'Association Commautaire Cardinal Creek ce jeudi 6 novembre
à 19h, au 998 Valin, au centre communautaire Fallingbrook sud, adjacent
à l'école élémentaire publique Maple Ridge.

Saviez-vous que la Ville d'Ottawa étudie présentement l'agrandissement
de la zone urbaine? Découvrez qui seront vos futurs voisins, où ils
viveront, et quelles seront les zonages (commercial, industriel et
résidentiel) qui nous entoureront bientôt.

Saviez-vous que les éléments clés de la protection de notre notre
communauté sont l'Étude du Réseau Hydrographique Étendu du Ruisseau
Cardinal, et la possible désignation du Karst du Ruisseau Cardinal
comme étant une Zone d'intérêt naturel et scientifique (ZINS), et que
ces éléments établiront la base du développement urbain à l'est du
ruisseau Cardinal?  Venez découvrir les espèces rares et l'écosystème
fragile qui vit à deux pas de nos maisons.

De plus, saviez-vous que l'Office de protection de la nature de la
vallée Rideau a recensé poissons, animaux, oiseaux, castors et autres
animaux vivant dans l'écosystème du ruisseau et qui ont besoin d'une
protection accrue?  Venez apprendre comment l'état de santé du ruisseau
et de ses alentours ont évolué depuis les 5 dernières années. Comment
pouvons nous tous ensemble protéger ce joyau naturel qui nous entoure?

Nous vous invitons à participer en grand nombre à l'assemblée jeudi
soir. Une communauté bien informée saura protéger ses intérêts pour de
nombreuses années.
