Dear residents,

The following news was released earlier this week to the media.

The Cardinal Creek Community Association Neighbourhood Watch
(NW) Program was officially launched by Mayor Jim Watson and Councillors
Bob Monette and Steve Blais on September 8th at the Cardinal Creek
Community Association (CCCA) public meeting (see photo). Over 50 people
were in attendance including members of the City of Ottawa Police to
explain the benefits of the NW program.

The CCCA is pleased to announce that on October 3, it officially became
a City of Ottawa Police Services Neighbourhood Watch Community as it
signed up over 300 NW participants in the Springridge area. Sean
Crossan, President of the CCCA noted that "This is a major
accomplishment as we are striving to make our community a safer and a
better place to live." He went on to thank Mayor Watson and Councillors
Monette and Blais for all their support. "I wish to extend a special
thank you to Councillor Monette for going door to door in Ward 1 to help
us get the word out about our Neighbourhood Watch Program and for
providing $500towards this worthy cause. When we reach out to residents
of Ward 19 in King and Queen's Pointe in the spring, Councillor Blais
has committed to going door to door to support the expansion of the CCCA
NW."

"Genevieve Gaignery and Neil Congdon, the CCCA Neighbourhood Watch
Program Coordinators deserve a huge thank you as they have made a
significant contribution to make this program a success" said Councillor
Bob Monette. "It is dedicated volunteers like this that make our
community a great place to live."

The CCCA hopes that NW block captains will step forward in other parts
of Cardinal Creek to organize 8 to 10 houses on their street so that the
benefits of the CCCA NW Program can be extended to other parts of
Cardinal Creek (both east and west of Trim Road). We challenge Kings
Pointe, Queens Point, Royal Ridge, East Village and those residents
living in the Varennes Park area to develop a Neighbourhood Watch
Program to address the hot spots in their neighbourhoods. For more
information about the CCCA NW Program, please visit
